A Complete Overview of Future Goals

Here is a guide on how to create effective future goals:

1. Know what you want

Before you can start working towards your goals, you need to know exactly what it is you want. Be specific and think about what you really want, not what you think you should want.

2. Set realistic goals

It’s important to be realistic when setting your goals. If they’re too easy, you’ll lose motivation, but if they’re too difficult, you’ll get discouraged and give up. Look at the goals you’ve already achieved and think about what made them achievable. You can always ask a friend or family member for advice on whether your goal is feasible or not.

3. Make a plan of action

Once you know what it is you want, make a plan of action to get there! Write down specific steps that will lead you to your final goal. Think about all possible roadblocks and how you can overcome them.

4. Evaluate your progress

As with any project, it is important to regularly stop and check-in on how things are going. When setting up a schedule for yourself, include time for reflection so that you can assess your current status and adjust your strategy as needed.

5. Chart a new course if necessary

In the same way that you have to regularly check-in with yourself, you also have to be willing to adjust your plan if it isn’t working out the way you initially envisioned. Even successful people fail from time to time — there’s no reason why we shouldn’t expect the same in our own lives.

6. Ask for help when you need it

Many of us like to think that we’re self-sufficient, but let’s be honest here — there are some things even Elon Musk isn’t good at! If you know that you will need assistance in achieving your goals, seek out people who can provide it. That could be an older sibling, a family friend, or even someone you’ve never met before! You’d be surprised at how helpful people can be once you ask for their help.

7. Track your progress

Keeping track of the small steps you take along your journey is very important. If you don’t keep yourself accountable for what you’re doing, it will be much harder to achieve your goals. Keeping up with things in a journal or simply using the notes app on your phone are both great ways to do this

8. Maintain balance in your life

It’s easy to get lost in work, school, relationships, etc., but don’t forget about yourself! It’s important to take time for yourself and reflect on how you’re doing — maybe even schedule a “fun day” every now and again! It’s easy to get stressed out as things pile up, but try to keep your head above water.

9. Don’t give up!

This is the most important thing of all: don’t give up! No matter what roadblocks you encounter or how many times you fail, remember that everyone fails and it’s just a part of life. The only way to truly fail is by quitting — so don’t do it! Keep your eyes on the prize and keep working towards those goals until you achieve them.
